On June 27, 2013, Reynaldo Lebron was sentenced to 18-years-to-life in prison for fatally shooting his estranged wife in front of their three children on May 27, 2010. Lebron pleaded guilty to Murder in the Second Degree. As admitted in his guilty plea, Reynaldo arrived at his estranged wife’s apartment in West Harlem and chased the victim into the hallway, where she attempted to get help by knocking on neighbors’ doors. The defendant grabbed the victim, shot her twice in the chest, and fled the scene. During this time the defendant and the victim’s three children, ages 4, 6, and 8, stood inside the apartment and witnessed their mother’s murder through the open door. The defendant told the children to shut the door, or he would kill them too. Prior to the shooting, the victim had an order of protection against Lebron.
